Cupping & Therapeutic Massage Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, releasing toxins, relaxation and overall well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage as well as Myofascial Release. The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, release and breakdown scar.

Last week, I received a Cupping & Therapeutic Massage session from Amber Huffman, LMT. I hopped on the table just like any other massage. Amber started out with traditional therapeutic massage customized to my pressure preference. I had opted for a 90-minute cupping & massage session, so she could work with the cups in several areas of my body (legs & back). Once my muscles were warmed up, she started with a small massage cup gliding along my legs looking for areas of tension. When she hit a tender area, I spoke up. Amber adjusted the suction on the cup and placed a larger cup over the tender area. The.
This past weekend, Sarah Pratt, L.M.T. with SP Massage, L.L.C. got an amazing opportunity to teacher assist a John Barnes seminar, Myofascial Release I. After 11 years as a myofascial release therapist, it was a phenomenal and memorable experience to be on the other side of such a recognized class. John Barnes is the physical therapist who originally recognized that tissue work needed an overhaul and our bodies responded exponentially better when the pressure meets the body instead of forcing it. “I was honored to assist such amazing, experienced myofascial release teachers. Myofascial Release I is an in-depth introduction to the work. The therapists who attended the seminar did a.

Delilah Scott with Capital Virtues, LLC had her healthy baby boy this winter. She has been on maternity leave since December with hopes of returning to Centered Therapies this spring. We are happy to announce that both her and her new bundle of joy are doing well and healthy, but sad to inform everyone that she will not be returning to Centered Therapies. Delilah has decided to stay home and take on the important role as a stay-at-home mother. We will miss her energy in our office and if she decides to come back to Reiki, we will let our clients know.
